Once per play phase you may play a BLACK basic or equipment card as a Food Shortage on another player, ignoring that card's usual distance limit. A black TRICK does not qualify — the eligible set is basics and equipment only.

Xu Huang turns dead cards into control. A black Attack you cannot aim, a spare Defense, a weapon you will never equip — each becomes a Food Shortage, and unlike the real card it reaches ANY seat regardless of distance. That is the whole hero: reliable, long-range draw denial that costs you only your worst card. Use it on the player who most needs to draw — a healer running dry, a Rebel rebuilding a hand — rather than on whoever is nearest. His limits are real: once per play phase, black only, and basics or equipment only, so a hand of black tricks gives him nothing. He also cannot stop a target who simply judges their way out.
