Negate is reactive — hold it in reserve, never dump it early. Save it for the deadliest schemes: a Lightning about to strike, a Duel, or a game-ending Fire Attack. Its overlooked edge is board-wide: one Negate wipes a Barbarian Horde or Hail of Arrows for your whole team. It shines in a Loyalist's hand guarding the Lord at a full table.
It's the guardian tool for a Loyalist shielding a Lord like Cao Cao or Sun Quan. Hold it to cancel a Duel that Diao Chan forces, snuff a Lightning aimed at a key hero, or peel off a Festival Party or Supply Shortage the enemy pinned on the Lord to lock his turn — one card swings the tempo right back.
Negate cancels Negate, so if you must push a key trick through, keep a second Negate to counter theirs. Or bait it out with a throwaway trick before committing your finisher. And remember it only touches tricks and judgements — an aggressor closing the game with plain Attacks walks right past it.
