Zhuahuang Feidian (+1 horse): defensive mount. Other seats are 1 further away when targeting you — identical in effect to Shadow Runner. Only one defensive mount at a time.

Cao Cao rode Zhuahuang Feidian to the imperial hunt at Xutian, held it level with the Emperor's mount — one horse's head apart — then spurred in front of the throne to take a cheer meant for someone else, with Guan Yu driving his horse forward behind him, blade raised to cut him down, until Liu Bei waved him off with a look. Nobody closed the distance, and that is exactly what the card does: every seat needs 1 more distance to name you, so an unarmed attacker at range 1, who would otherwise reach both his neighbours, has to find a weapon before he can Attack you at all. Put it on the moment the table turns on you — a Lord once the Rebels declare, or a Traitor who has stopped pretending.

The extra distance is billed only to whoever is aiming at you — your own reach is untouched. Defensive and offensive mounts sit in separate slots, so wear this alongside Red Hare or a long weapon and you end up in Cao Cao's posture at the hunt: able to take the shot, standing outside the range of everyone who wants to take one at you.

Stop trying to out-reach it. Duel, Hail of Arrows and Barbarian Horde never check distance at all and walk straight past the mount — only Attack, Steal and Food Shortage are range-limited in the first place, which is exactly why Steal is no answer here: the mount puts you at distance 2 from the seats beside you, and Steal is refused beyond 1. Strip it with Dismantle, which ignores distance entirely — or ride your own offensive mount first, which cancels the extra distance one for one and puts Steal back in range.
