Dayuan is the one mount on this list that names a place rather than a single famous animal: the western kingdom whose blood-sweating stock Emperor Wu of Han sent two campaigns to take, and still the best horse a Three Kingdoms commander could sit on — Cao Zhi, Cao Cao's son, presented a Dayuan horse to Cao Pi. At the table it takes 1 off your distance to every seat, which pays most in a five- or six-player ring when the seat you have to remove is two along. Down to three players everyone already sits at distance 1, and the mount buys you nothing at all.

Dayuan is printed as the King of Spades, so it is a black hand card long before it is a mount: Gan Ning can spend it as Raid, and Zhang Jiao's Occult Path can swap it into a Lightning judgement — a King sits outside the Spade 2-9 strike band, so the storm passes on to the next seat instead. Neither of the other offensive mounts can do this: Red Hare and Zixing are both printed red.

Distance here is one-way: Dayuan brings him closer to you, never you closer to him, so it hands you nothing to reach back with. Steal is range 1 and his mount does not shorten your side of that, so take the card off him with Dismantle, which has no range limit — or put on a defensive mount of your own, where your +1 cancels his -1 exactly.
